What is the Temple of Leah?

Temple of Leah Statue

As a symbol of undying love, the Taj Mahal, a mausoleum in India, shares the same story as the Temple of Leah

In honor of his 53-year life partner Leah Albino-Adarna, Teodorico Soriano Adarna built the Temple of Leah to display his love and gratitude. They are the grandparents of actress Ellen Adarna, the owner of a motel chain in Cebu called Queensland.

Construction on the Temple of Leah began in 2012 in Cebu City’s highland barangay of Busay. This temple reportedly consists of 24 chambers, among which are an art gallery, a museum, a library, and a bar.

It is reportedly claimed that Teodorico spent 80 million pesos to build this temple to symbolize his undying love for Leah.

There are also life-sized statues of Roman gladiators, lions, and angels all over the building.

But the most special of them is the statue of Leah. And there is a commemorative plaque at the base of the statue that reads:

“Beloved Wife and Mother: Leah V. Albino-Adarna was chosen Matron Queen of her Alma Mater the University of Southern Philippines. This bronze statue portrays her composure and regal bearing when she was crowned. May the beholder discern her innate beauty, poise and gentleness.”

Public transportation is the cheapest way to get here. You can ride 04D, 04I or 04H (Lahug-Busay) jeepney from downtown Cebu City, Make sure to remind the driver that you will get off on Temple of Leah street. Then after that, you can walk around 5-10 minutes to the site.

Another option is to get a (habal-habal) motorcycle ride, a taxi, or your private car. If you are visiting on weekend, expect that it will be a little bit crowded. So, if you want to avoid the crowd, then it is best to visit on weekdays.

Our Experience:

As we were heading to the Temple of Leah, we had a short detour. As a result of this detour, we traveled an additional mile. The short way is currently accessible to vehicles exiting. In other words, you must find another way to enter the Temple of Leah.

Follow the road straight ahead. You will find an LKB gasoline station on your left. Upon passing the LKB gas station, turn left.

There will be signs for the Cebu City Detour along the road. Follow them and you will arrive at the Temple of Leah soon. Be aware of your surroundings and ask residents if you have any doubts.
